Photo Diary is a film that follows the story of an ambitious college student named, Janna, who is struggling to pursue a creative career and connect with her strict and overbearing mother,  Loysa, who disapproves of the creative lifestyle and arts.

SHANEIKA AGUILAR | DIRECTOR

Shaneika Aguilar is an aspiring filmmaker studying digital cinema at the Academy of Creative Media at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She discovered her passion for narrative filmmaking in middle school and has been pursuing it since as a full time career. She has competed nationally and has won several first place awards and honorable mentions at competitions such as the Student Television Network. She now runs her own full service cinematography business, in which she shoots, directs, produces, and edits films and commercials for weddings, musicians, fashion and small businesses. She has worked as a production assistant on indie features such as Go for Broke and Waikiki. She's currently set to work on a couple of other indie films such as 3 Reasons to Kiss as a co-director of photography and Isle as production assistant.

SELAH CHUNG | ASSISTANT DIRECTOR & CO-PRODUCER

Selah Chung is a aspiring writer/director currently based in Honolulu, Hawaii. She has studied media arts at Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu and Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Multimedia. With roots in both Eastern and Western culture, her work explores the sub and counter cultures of her experiences throughout America, Hawaii, and Japan. A strong believer in the DIY method, Selah strives to tell narratives that are meaningful and organic, while exploring themes of assimilation, dispossession, and diaspora.

DYMOND CABILDO | PRODUCER

Dymond Cabildo has dreams of empowering women, representing the LGBTQA+ community, and evoking powerful emotions in others with her storytelling and filmmaking. Majoring in Creative Media at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, she has worked on a handful of student productions in a variety of roles—including producer, director, DP, and grip/electric. She has also worked on the feature film Go For Broke (directed by Alex Bocchieri) and interned with Hawaii Media Inc. Dymond aspires to be an accomplished grip, inspiring director, and master storyteller. When she’s not out eating ramen with her nerdy friends, you can find her conjuring new stories, playing D&D, or taking her sixth nap of the day.

KILANI VILLIAROS | DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Kilani Villiaros was born and raised in Oahu and is proudly half-Filipino, half-Caucasian aka “hapa."  She attended the Motion Picture and Television program at Academy of Art University in San Francisco and subsequently received her bachelor’s degree in film production from the Academy for Creative Media (ACM) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in Spring 2017.  Since then she has served as cinematographer for several shorts and has earned professional experience on the camera team of a variety of projects such as indie features Go For Broke, Rocket Club, a She’s Mercedes commercial, and local tv show Hawaii 5-0. Outside of film life, she is a self-taught chef and art enthusiast.

JON BANQUIL | MUSIC COMPOSER & PRODUCER

Jon Banquil is a skilled musician, composer and producer and has written several original musical pieces. In late 2015, he formed a band called "Ivory City" and within a year, he and his bandmates opened up for Awolnation, Young the Giants and Grouplove at The Republik and The Cure at The Neal S. Blaisdell Center. His band was published on the front cover of The Metro Honolulu newspaper and they successfully put out a single on iTunes and Spotify mid-2016. Jon has also scored a commercial for Go Hawaii in which he worked very closely with filmmaker and music producer, Christopher Ahn.
